2024 Summer Intern Cohort Recap

At Outdoor Cap, three core values define our company: Integrity, Teamwork, and Respect. I’ve had the opportunity to witness these values in action. My name is J.R. Sperry, and joined the Outdoor Cap 2024 Internship Program as the Marketing Operations intern. These values are deeply ingrained in every employee, but there is more to our story.

The Outdoor Cap internship is not a typical, everyday job; it is an enriching experience. Our company offers a unique, inclusive environment that fosters professional development and provides opportunities rarely found elsewhere. Interns quickly become close to their peers and gain invaluable insights. The question often arises: What makes Outdoor Cap so special?

"They are interested in what I'm doing, and they genuinely care about me," remarked Caroline Stacey, a fellow intern from the Product Development team. This sentiment resonates throughout the company. Unlike many organizations where interns are often undervalued, the teams treat everyone with the utmost respect, making interns feel like they have been part of the team for years.

When asked to describe the Outdoor Cap internship in three words, Anna Simpson chose "Engaging, Insightful, and Collaborative." Interns are constantly involved, whether attending important meetings, working on new projects, or learning new skills. The program is insightful and resourceful, offering comprehensive knowledge about specific fields and opportunities to explore other areas. Collaboration is a hallmark of the experience, with interns interacting with colleagues across all levels of the company, honing vital skills.

Supervisors at Outdoor Cap play a pivotal role in the interns' development. They provide unwavering guidance and support, treating interns as equals. Interns expressed gratitude and recognition for several supervisors and mentors for their leadership, kindness, and the valuable lessons they imparted.

"Time is the most valuable thing that we have, and I’m glad I could spend it here," said Aidan Stinson, Graphic Design Intern, summing up his internship experience. Interns engage in a variety of activities, from conducting market analyses and creating production designs to writing blogs about their experiences and participating in departmental field trips. The time spent here is not only educational but also enjoyable.

At Outdoor Cap, it’s not just a job; it’s a community that truly embraces the company values of Integrity, Teamwork, and Respect.  The commitment to creating a meaningful internship experience is just one of countless ways those values are brought to life.
